Who do you think is the world’s leading (number one) producer of Denim Fabric right now. There are four countries in the top four (wow). In 2007, we used to be number four. Guess where we are now? According to an industry insider and investor in production terms as of now we are competing neck to neck with China and depending on how you read statistics switching between number one and number two as production figures get updated on a monthly basis.
For a country that supposedly doesn’t have the infrastructure to produce a needle (common drawing room conversation theme and media coverage that you will not find on this blog), that seems to be a very tall order. So we are the fourth largest producer of milk, one of the largest exporters of rice, now the largest producer of denim, what else is there that we don’t know about how far we have come as a nation.
