A few months short of forty, my most recent product launch almost put me into the ground. While the details are hazy and there are many candidates responsible for making me miss a week of work, the conclusion this afternoon was clear.
I am too old for the life I have been leading the last two years.
Maybe it was bad food, a dengue mosquito, viral killers floating in the air, stress at work, the pressure of the small business friendly economy at work or a combination of all six (see I can’t even count now). But this afternoon I realized that it has been more than a year since I played cricket with Amin or sat down for a game of FIFA; a little less since I attended one of Taha’s therapy session; and possibly more since Salwa’s last presentation. I am not going to live forever and having a nervous breakdown every night at midnight as I struggle to decipher the redirection algorithm behind my WordPress adventure is not going to help with lengthening my life expectancy.
I need to find another life. And soon before the next crisis claims me as its own, but not before the current adventure is over.
More on this later when I feel like writing again…
